Bishop Stephen Berg to join Pope Francis in consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25

Pueblo, Bishop Stephen Berg issued the following statement in response to Pope Francis’ announcement that he will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

“On Friday, March 25, during the Celebration of Penance at St. Peter’s Basilica at which he will preside at 5 p.m. Rome time, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima, Portugal, by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.

As Bishop of Pueblo, I invite people of all faiths to join me on March 25 at 10 a.m. (5 p.m. Rome time), at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo, to pray this act of consecration simultaneously with the Holy Father, in communion with people of faith throughout the world.

I ask for prayers of all people in support of this intention. Together we seek the intercession of Our Blessed Mother through her Immaculate Heart to bring conversion to this troubled part of our world. I further ask all who are able to pray the nine-day Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which can be found on our diocesan website at www.diopueblo.org”
