I found the convocation to be a good example of open communication among members of our church. We, the participants, were able to share our thoughts and concerns about the future of our church with others, even priests and deacons. The hierarchical structure of our church does not easily lend itself to this type of interchange, and this is especially experienced by the larger female population. There is no forum for us as we are used frequently but included only marginally in any decisions made by the hierarchy. The convocation allowed a great deal of openness in communication. Opportunities like this are so rare in our church. I appreciated being able to attend and participate in this event due to the generosity of others as I would not have been able to do so on my own.
